in the studio with kayla grenier
This month’s spotlight takes us to our Brooklyn studio, where one photographer transformed a simple branding session into something bold and modern. She captured each woman’s personality in this cozy space while still delivering an elevated, editorial vibe. A perfect reminder to keep creating what fuels your soul!
In the Studio with Kayla Grenier
Meet Kayla Grenier: Based in Saskatoon, Kayla is best known for her romantic wedding photography and her ability to capture the real, unfiltered moments that make each story unique. She brings a calm, grounding presence to every wedding day, steadying nerves, noticing the little things, and cheering you on when you need it most.
With a creative eye that transforms fleeting moments into artful imagery, Kayla shows up with her whole heart every time. More than a photographer, she’s the friend you can trust to be fully present, fully supportive, and fully invested in telling your story beautifully.
Q: What was the vision behind this shoot?
Kayla: “The vision behind this shoot was to create something with an editorial flare, but still remained cozy and warm. My clients didn't want their branding photos to feel too similar to others, so we wanted to elevate the vibe to create something modern, edgy, and editorial.”
Q: If you could photograph any person-living or historical-who it be and why?
Kayla: “This is a tough question and although there are MANY people that would be a true honor to photograph - there is one person I would want to photograph again and that would be my best friend Austyn. Although he passed away nine years ago - he has been the driving force behind my photography and who I am today. If I could have the opportunity to permanently encompass his bubbly personality, his laugh and smile just one more time I would do it in a heartbeat.”
Q: What’s one lesson you’ve learned that you’d share with new photographers?
Kayla: “Don't be afraid to do something different. Photography is about expressing yourself and your inner creativeness - it does not matter what everyone else is doing, do what fuels your soul. The biggest thing that elevated my photography and business was finally accepting the fact that I wanted my work to be different. I wanted a brand that had tons of color - the neutral, boho, vibe was not for me! and that is totally okay. We are all here to create the way that speaks to us, we don't all need to be the same, what works for someone else may not work for you. My favorite quote would be "the things that make me different are the things that make me”
Q: Why did you choose White Space Studios for this shoot?
Kayla: “My clients wanted something cozy and luxurious. I knew immediately that the Brooklyn was the space for them. The mix of the textured brick, leather couch and soft light would be perfect to bring their vision to life.”
Q: What three words would you use to describe your photography style and how did this shoot reflect that?
Kayla: “Romantic, Real, Art. The goal with all my shoots is to reflect my clients as best as I can. I want my photos to feel like the raw and real has turned into art. With this particular session I truly wanted to capture and express the personalities of all the girls while turning them into little pieces that will make an impact on their socials and business pages. We did just that - their real and raw emotions and personalities were turned into art!”
