Introducing Our Studio Spotlight Series
We’re kicking off a weekly series to shine a light on the amazing artists in our community! Each week, we’ll feature a new photographer , share some of the awesome work they’ve been making in the studio, and get to know them a little better through a quick Q&A. Think of it as a peek behind the curtain—straight from the people who bring the magic to life.
In the Studio with Paige Bell
Meet Paige Bell: In 2015, Paige made the bold decision to step away from post-secondary education and fully commit to her passion for photography—and she hasn’t looked back since. Based in Saskatoon, she specializes in wedding, graduation, lifestyle, and creative photography. Her goal? To capture moments as true-to-life as possible, while adding thoughtful, artistic touches that make each session uniquely her own.
Q: What was the vision behind this shoot?
Paige: “The story behind my session with Mimi is very simple, she reached out to me asking if I’d be interested in capturing photos for her birthday coming up. She had a colourful vision in mind and was confident I was the person for the job. She was very nervous, wondering if she’d be able to pull off the creative vibe and being in front of the camera and I reassured that she’d do amazing! “The weirder you feel the better” is what I always say”
Q: If you could photograph any person-living or historical-who it be and why?
Paige: “If I could photograph anyone living or historical, I’m going to go a slightly different route and say that my dream is to attend one of @MarinaWPhoto’s Colour Pop photography events where she spends countless hours putting together numerous insane photoshoot sets with some of the best models, hair, makeup, and styling teams, etc. Marina has always been a big inspiration to me.”
Q: What’s one lesson you’ve learned that you’d share with new photographers?
Paige: “One thing I’ve learnt as a photographer that I’d share with someone starting out is to always be true to yourself and try things out of your comfort zone often. Especially once you’ve become established it can be easy to go with the motions and stick to what you know. This goes for not only just creative work but paid work as well! Challenge yourself at least once per session with a different angle, maybe an outfit suggestion or a pose you don’t do often”
Q: Why did you choose White Space Studios for this shoot?
Paige: The white space studio is my go to studio rental because it’s clean and minimal vibe is perfect for any scenario, some may see it as only a white space but there are endless ways you can spice up the space and make it come to life with colourful backdrops, outfits or props. The white space is also very convenient from booking online to the check in/out process.
Q: What’s one photo from this shoot that means the most to you, and why?
Paige: For me, my favourite photo from this session with Mimi is the one where she’s sitting and you can see the backdrop & the white walls in the back. It’s my favourite because I challenged myself to get creative with not only the pose but also the perspective and we were able to bring out Mimi's goofy side and step her out of her comfort zone as well, which ultimately is why the photos look the way they do
