In the Studio with Danielle Bahia
Meet Danielle Bahia: A Regina photographer, wife, mom of two, and someone who deeply values connection and community. When she’s not behind the camera, you’ll likely find her working her day job at Social Services, sipping on a Starbucks cold brew, travelling, or spending time with friends and family.
Danielle’s photography journey started with a simple but meaningful goal: creating an accessible, affordable option for low-income families to have family photos. Since then, that mission has remained at the heart of what she does. Over the years, photography has become more than just creating images, it’s become a way to connect with incredible people and build relationships within Regina’s creative community. She’s also had the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with talented local photographers, making the experience even more rewarding along the way.
Q: What was the vision behind this shoot?
Danielle: “This was my first time shooting in the Chelsea since it opened in Regina. My clients were drawn to the brick and I was excited to check out the space, simply to capture some memories of their last month as a family of 2!.”
Q: If you could photograph any person-living or historical-who it be and why?
Danielle: “This may not be quite the answer you're looking for but honestly I likely would choose my kids and myself. Moms! Get the photos! They grow up so fast and it would be nice to have more documented memories of each stage.”
Q: What’s one lesson you’ve learned that you’d share with new photographers?
Danielle: “If you don't know something just ask. As mentioned the community here is so great, I have learnt a lot over the years by just asking others with different skills then me their thoughts. You don't have to know everything!”
Q: What three words would you use to describe your photography style?
Danielle: “Playful, Authentic, Diverse. I hope all my shoots are enjoyable! I love to have fun, make jokes, and keep things playful and moving. I also like to use various lighting, poses, textures etc..”
Q: Why did you choose White Space Studios for this shoot?
Danielle: “I had not yet been and my clients were looking for the exposed brick vibe. It was a perfect match and they loved it.”
