In the Studio with Kyleigh Matiachuk

Meet Kyleigh Matiachuk: Kyleigh is a Saskatoon based photographer who loves to capture the moments that matter most-whether it’s your wedding day, an intimate elopement, or the everyday magic of life. She is beyond grateful to be living her dream and supporting people while preserving the beauty of each season as it changes.

Q: What was the vision behind this shoot?
Kyleigh: “It is so important to me to document moments of motherhood just as they are. Sometimes in the studio things can feel too quick, too posed, maybe unnatural for this style of session. I really wanted to showcase how motherhood and the feelings and moments that come with that are unique to each of us who experience them. I wanted this mom to look at her photos and remember exactly how these moments FELT.”

Q: If you could photograph any person-living or historical-who it be and why?
Kyleigh: “Probably Chrissy Teigen and her family. They have such an incredible family dynamic and impactful story. I think it would be so fun but also so beautiful, effortless and intentional. Just the way she makes motherhood seem.”

Q: What’s one lesson you’ve learned that you’d share with new photographers?
Kyleigh: “I am still learning myself, that will always be a constant. Never feel like you've learnt enough, absorb all you can from those around you. Let yourself try all the things, the things that are meant for you will find you. You'll find yourself settling into the place you're exactly meant to be.”

Q: Why did you choose White Space Studios for this shoot?

Kyleigh: “I chose White Space for this shoot because it's the perfect simple, clean blank canvas that allowed the moments to really shine.”

Q: What’s one photo from this shoot that means the most to you, and why?

Kyleigh: “The one of her nursing her sweet babe. I remember those feelings, just looking at your baby, that tiny little thing that you created, how you could feel so much of your heart outside your body. How it brought so much emotion in those moments of connection and stillness. I love to shoot motherhood so much because it's something I am so deep in myself and something I remember so familiarly and get to reminisce in so deeply each time I get to capture these moments for others. I feel truly blessed to be a part of these memories.”
