In the Studio with Chelsea Pratchler

Meet Chelsea Pratchler: After years of pursuing post secondary education as an early childhood educator Chelsea decided to start a new chapter and invest in her business full time photographing weddings and elopements!
The past decade of capturing love stories has brought her so much joy, connection and adventure.
If you adore the sweeter things in life such as a filmy inspired photos that leaves a mark on your heart, intentional moments of connection, hiking through wide open spaces, appreciating every moment in the sun and sneaking a hot cup of chai or a sweet treat to end the day - you will fall in love with Chelsea!

Q: What was the vision behind this shoot?

Chelsea: “The images I have chosen to share are from my first ever photography workshop in Saskatoon at White Space Studios! These images mean so, so much to me. I had recently travelled to Victoria, BC to mentor under another photographer and to attend photography workshops. I came home feeling so inspired and wanted to create an opportunity for other photographers, right here in Saskatoon. Since then I have hosted 2 other photography workshops and have another one planned this September!”

Q: If you could photograph any person-living or historical-who it be and why?

Chelsea: “If I could photograph any person in the world, it would be my little boy. I want nothing more than to remember every season of life with him, preserved as a photograph that will last for generations to come.”

Q: What’s one lesson you’ve learned that you’d share with new photographers?

Chelsea: “One thing I have learnt as a photographer is that there are so many different avenues to invest in with this photography business. I have been a photographer for 13 years and went full time with photography in 2018. It has been an incredible adventure! There may be challenges that lie ahead, but there are so many opportunities to change course as each season of life comes and goes. It may take some creative thinking and a leap of faith, but as long as you follow the direction to where your creative soul is pulling you, you will find contentment! Even if it means taking a step back from all that you know to find where it is that you should be.”

Q: Why did you choose White Space Studios for this shoot?

Chelsea: “I chose White Space Studios as it was the perfect venue for the workshop! No matter the weather outdoors, this studio offers an incredible source of soft, white light which is so important in my studio work. The studio is clean and easy to access downtown. Nicole is so wonderful to work with as well. Her work is so lovely, and I'd love to support her in any way that I can!”

Q: What’s one photo from this shoot that means the most to you, and why?

Chelsea: “I honestly can't pick a favorite image from the shoot! Everything about the shoot exceeded my expectations, including the venue, vendors, models and experience with the workshop attendees! It was so fun to try something new!”
